What is the SEJ?

The Self Empowerment Journey (SEJ) is an innovative, psychoeducational evidence-based solution focused process. Currently offered to educational settings from secondary Key Stage 4 through to Higher Education, it is designed to ensure everyone in the educational community develops the skills to ‘stay mentally healthy’ and reach their full potential.

The SEJ Process training is a simple 4 step easy to use process of self-enquiry which follows a structured framework. Once learnt and practiced it will enable the individual to live life joyfully, empowering them to find their own answers to their stressful thoughts and limiting life situations. It offers instant results in the moment that the person applies the process and can be use in real-time anywhere, anytime. It has been proven to support educators/staff, families, and students; shown to be effective for children from the age of 7 upwards.

Research and the SEJ Process

Research undertaken at Kingston University brought awareness of the absence of appropriate life skills to empower students with their mental health through wellbeing provision during their educational career. Using the data collated we have further developed the training which is a series of lessons based upon a journey of Self Empowerment.

The Origin of the SEJ

The originator of the SEJ is Jacqueline Mary Phillips, who openly speaks about her own personal experiences with mental health, suffering with depression and other mental health issues from the age of 14 to 28. She shares her story of how she became 'mentally ill' because no one had taught her how to 'stay mentally healthy'.

Mary (as she prefers to be known), has been depression free for over 26 years now and has for the past 25 years dedicated her life to sharing the SEJ.  The SEJ Process not only brought her out of a mental health crisis, but has also enabled her to remain depression free. Mary is available for inspirational talks at your setting, where she is happy to share her life experiences and own personal Self Empowerment Journey. Please contact us for more information.
